What is the Difference Between Liposuction and Other Types of Fat Reduction Treatments?

Liposuction is a popular and effective method for removing fat from the body, particularly from the legs, abdomen, back, arms, face and neck. It offers more dramatic results than other non-invasive fat reduction procedures, but it also has a longer recovery period (up to six weeks) and generally costs more than its non-surgical counterparts. CoolSculpting and liposuction are two medical procedures that permanently remove fat cells, but they have some key differences.Every year, more than 150,000 people undergo fat reduction treatments without surgery, with nearly 30,000 of those patients being men. Non-surgical fat reduction is a less invasive alternative to regular liposuction, but does it work? The answer is more complex than a simple yes or no.

There are multiple liposuction techniques that use different technologies. I prefer a more refined form of liposuction called liposculpture. With an extremely small cannula (the device used to suck fat from the body), I can get great sculpted results without leaving significant scarring. Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL) is another technique that I use.

It uses ultrasound energy to gently separate adipose tissue before removing it.Different types of fat require different treatments, a topic I explored in a previous blog post. First, it's important to understand that neither liposuction nor any non-surgical fat reduction procedure is designed to significantly reduce weight. The results of non-surgical fat reduction are inconsistent and cannot match the dramatic results of liposuction. CoolSculpting is one of the most popular non-surgical fat reduction treatments, with more than 450,000 procedures performed worldwide.Several patients who are considering liposuction at my Chicago plastic surgery office are wondering how non-invasive treatments compare with surgical fat removal.

The fat is then sucked through the tube, resulting in the permanent reduction of those fat cells. Non-surgical body contouring, also known as fat reduction without surgery, is a procedure that destroys fat cells with the aim of reducing or eliminating persistent accumulations of fat without the need for surgery in different areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, thighs and upper arms. Liposuction is generally considered to be much more effective, but fat reduction without surgery may be a good alternative for those who simply need a little extra help for some persistent areas, or it may be the only alternative if surgery is not possible.Ultrasonic (ultrasonic) fat extraction uses energy created by ultrasound to liquefy adipose tissue before the doctor uses a fine cannula to remove fat. One of the most active areas of innovation in the field of aesthetics over the past decade has been non-surgical fat reduction treatments.

Unlike surgical liposuction, which involves removing dense, unliquefied fat with larger cannulas, ultrasonic fat extraction is less aggressive than liposuction because the doctor can move the cannulas smoothly and easily under the skin to remove fat. With the latest technology come fat reduction methods that are easier than spending months in the gym or following a strict diet - methods such as CoolSculpting. While CoolSculpting uses cold temperatures to kill fat cells, SculpSure is a heat-based method for removing fat. Non-surgical fat reduction is also called non-surgical liposuction, but it's actually not liposuction at all. Using light-based technology, SculpSure's increased heat causes cells to break down, thus destroying fat cells and eliminating fat deposits in the abdomen, flanks, back, inner thighs and outer thighs.

The treatments will only focus on the fat that currently exists - any new addition won't go away on their own. Known as one of today's mildest fat reduction treatments, Zerona low-level laser is approved by the FDA for treatment of the waist, hips and thighs.
